Municipal solid waste — or household black bag waste — is largely disposed of in landfill sites. This is becoming increasing unacceptable on many levels and other methods of processing the waste must be found.
The autoclave can heat and sterilise the waste and provide the means for up to 80% recovery of valuable products for recycling to industry such as card, paper, wood, metals and plastics. Alternatively, the recovered organic matter pulp can be gasified or anaerobically digested for waste to energy processes.
